How Do I Know If My Child Needs Help?

Steps 2 Reading, LLC, works with individuals with mild to moderate gaps in reading and spelling as well as students with more severe reading challenges including dyslexia and language-based disabilities.

If your child exhibits any of the following characteristics, he or she may benefit from Steps 2 Reading tutoring:

  • Knows many words by sight but has difficulty reading new words
  • Often guesses at words

  • Reverses letters (e.g. confuses b and d, saying “did” for the word bid)
  • Inverses letters (e.g.  confuses b and p, saying “pelt” for belt)
  • Inserts letters (e.g. says “munch” for much)
  • Deletes letters (e.g.  says “rib” for crib)
  • Substitutes letters  (e.g.  says “miss” or “mesh” for mess)
  • Transposes letters (e.g.  says “emeny” for enemy or “blod” for bold)
